Federal Hall is one of the first pieces myself and Dan Comerford wrote together. Adapted from a short story named The Blacklight Ballroom (New Irish Short Stories, edited by Joseph O’Connor, Faber, 2011), it originates with an interview I did with filmmaker and writer Bill Carter, about how during the siege of Sarajevo people depended on art, music and performance in order to preserve their humanity. We recorded this stripped-down live version of the track in Murphy’s Barn in December 2021.
Directed, mixed and edited by Dan Comerford, with video capture by Tom Bates at Saolam productions, audio capture by Paul Juggins. Special thanks to our dancers Éilish Coady and Dylan Walsh.
